Actaea simplex James Compton is a variety of the commonly known, Baneberry, and is grown for its impressive flowers and foliage. This herbaceous perennial produces scented, bottlebrush-like, white flowers on long and slender stems which rise above the foliage from summer through autumn. The foliage comprises lush, bronze-dark purple leaves which provides a great contrast to the flowers as it grows to 90 cm tall and 60 cm wide. Actaea simplex James Compton is commonly used in border or mixed plantings, included in cottage gardens, maintained in a container, or mass planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs.
