Elephant Ear
Alocasia Rubra is a variety of the commonly known Taro, and is grown for its lush foliage. It features large, mid–green, heart shaped leaves with red stems. This perennial typically grows to 1.2 m tall and 1 m wide, performing best on a well-drained, frost free, sheltered site in full sun or partial shade. It may die back in winter but will generally regrow again in the spring. Rubra is commonly used in mixed plantings, maintained in a container, added to tropical gardens, planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like, or mass planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs.
