Anigozanthos Amber Velvet

“Amber Velvet” is a variety of the commonly known, Kangaroo Paw, and grown for its unusual flowers. It produces unique clusters of velvet covered, amber red flowers through spring and summer. These are held on a slender stem above the strap-like, green leaves and are great for attracting birds. This perennial grows as a clump to about 1 m tall and the same wide, preferring a full sun or partial shade position on a well-drained soil. It is tolerant of frost and dry periods once established. This variety of Kangaroo Paw is commonly used in rock gardens, included in borders or mixed plantings, or grown in a container. The flowers bring an interesting element to the garden and also make an excellent cut flower.
