Armeria maritima Splendens, commonly known as Thrift, is a compact, low-growing plant which forms a dense, mounded tuft of grass-like, dark green leaves about 10 cm long. Tiny, bright pink flowers are borne in spring atop slender stems that rise above the foliage in the form of a ball. It typically grows to 20 cm tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained soil. It is tolerant of light frost, coastal environments, and periods of dry. Armeria maritima Splendens is ideal for rock and cottage gardens, coastal gardens, border plantings, or growing in a container.
