Astilbe Fuchsia Spangles is an herbaceous perennial grown for its impressive foliage and flowers. Interesting sprays of fluffy, pink plumes are produced on an upright stem above the foliage through spring and summer. These are complemented with green, fern-like foliage which serves as a lovely backdrop. It grows as a clump to about 40 cm tall and 25 cm wide, performing best when planted in a partial shade to full shade position on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant light frost only, and boggy ground, but should not be allowed to dry out during summer. Astilbe Fuchsia Spangles is a perfect plant for shaded areas, maintaining in a container, planting alongside walkways, including in mixed plantings, using in cottage gardens, or mass planting. It looks very effective when planted alongside a pond or stream.
