Bergenia Joy Bells is an herbaceous perennial grown for its lush foliage and pretty flowers. The glossy green leaves are large and will often develop maroon tones during the cooler months. The foliage is complemented with showy clusters of white flowers through spring which age to soft pink. It grows as a tidy clump to about 40 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of moderate frost, cool climates, short periods of dry, and a wide range of soil conditions, except extreme wet or dry. In cooler areas the plants may die back during winter to regrow again when conditions warm. Bergenia Joy Bells is a very fashionable and hardy plant that is ideal for border planting or mass planting as a groundcover. It is often used in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or maintained in a container.
