Stalked Bulbine
Bulbine frutescens is a vigorous, clump-forming, succulent perennial grown for its flowers. It produces stems with star-shaped, yellow flowers during spring and autumn. These are held above the long and slender, mid-green leaves. It may become dormant in summer in a drought or again in winter if conditions become cold. It typically grows to 50 cm tall and 30 cm wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of moderate frost, cool climates, and drought. Bulbine frutescens is commonly mass planted, used in borders, or planted around larger trees. It is ideal for mass planting on a bank.
