Canna iridiflora is grown for its impressive flowers and foliage. It produces upright stems that bear stunning, cerise pink flowers during summer and autumn. The flowers are held above large and broad leaves that are green with a pale inner edge and darker outer edge. It grows as clump to about 2.5 m tall and 1.5 m wide. In cold environments plants may die back during winter to regrow again in spring. Canna iridiflora grow best on a well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade though they are generally tolerant of cold environments and wet soils. This Lily is commonly used in tropical gardens, grown in a container, planted alongside water features, added to mixed plantings, or included in wetter areas. A mass planting is very rewarding.
