Commonly known as the Moutain Bluet or Perennial Cornflowers, this is an herbaceous perennial grown for its interesting and colourful flowers. It produces deep blue flowers through spring and summer which are often described as “spidery” in appearance. These are borne above the lush, dark green foliage. It typically grows to 60 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site with moderate shelter. It is tolerant of moderate frost but intolerant of extended dry periods. Mountain Bluet is commonly used in mixed and border plantings, included in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas.
