Clivia nobilis Details

Clivia nobilis, commonly known as the Green-Tip Forest Lily, is an herbaceous perennial is grown for its interesting flowers. It features pendulous clusters of showy, red and yellow flowers with a green tip which are borne in spring on a sturdy stem. The lush and dark green, strap like leaves provide an impressive backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in partial shade on a well-drained site. It tolerates moderate frost, cool climates, and dry periods though should be protected while it is establishing. It may, however, under these conditions die back during winter to regrow when conditions warm. Clivia nobilis is commonly included in borders or mixed plantings, used in tropical gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or simply maintained in a container. This plant is forgiving, low maintenance, and easy to grow.
