Wide-Leafed Dietes, Forest Iris
Dietes butcheriana, commonly known as the Forest Iris, produces numerous white flowers with a touch of yellow. They are borne on wiry, arching stems from spring through summer. It grows as a clump with the foliage comprising sword-like, pale green leaves arranged in a loose fan as it grows to 1 m tall and 80 cm wide. Dietes butcheriana is great for adding a splash of colour to the garden and is well suited to planting against a plain wall. It is often used in cottage gardens, and anywhere a hardy, yet attractive plant is required.
