Gazania Takatu Red is grown for its abundant and vibrant flowers. This variety bears large, daisy-like flowers that are deep red with a contrasting central eye of yellow, cream and black. These are borne from spring through summer above the lush, mid-green leaves. It typically grows to 20 cm tall and the same wide, performing best in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. This herbaceous perennial is hardy to frosts, cool climates, coastal conditions, and dry periods. Gazania Takatu Red is ideal for container planting, including in borders or mixed plantings, adding to cottage gardens, or mass planting. In frost prone areas it is often grown as an annual and replaced each year.
