Hosta Elegans is a variety of Hosta grown for its smoky-blue foliage. The leaves are heart shaped and have deep veins that give a corrugated appearance. Bell-shaped, lilac flowers appear in summer and are held neatly above the foliage. This herbaceous perennial will grow to about 50 cm tall and 1 m wide and in cold climates it may die off during winter to regrow again in spring. This herbaceous perennial will grow to about 50 cm tall and 1 m wide and in cold climates it may die off during winter to regrow again in spring. Elegans grows best in a full sun or partial shade position on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cold climates but should not be allowed to dry out.
