Hosta Sagae is grown for its foliage which is upright, powdery grey-green edged with white-cream streaks. In summer, bell-shaped, lilac flowers appear and are held neatly above the foliage. This herbaceous perennial will grow to about 1 m wide and 75 cm tall and in cold climates it may die off during winter to regrow again in spring. Hosta Sagae is commonly used in tropical and cottage gardens, mass planted as a groundcover, included in borders, maintained in a container, or planted around outdoor living areas.

Hosta Sagae Details

Hosta Sagae is grown for its foliage which is upright, powdery grey-green edged with white-cream streaks. In summer, bell-shaped, lilac flowers appear and are held neatly above the foliage which are followed by seed heads that attract birds. This herbaceous perennial will grow to about 1 m wide and 75 cm tall and in cold climates it may die off during winter to regrow again in spring. It grows best in a full sun or partial shade position on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cold climates but should not be allowed to dry out. Hosta Sagae is commonly used in tropical and cottage gardens, mass planted as a groundcover, included in borders, maintained in a container, or planted around outdoor living areas. A mass planting affords an impressive display.
