Kniphofia Flamenco Details

Kniphofia Flamenco is a variety of the commonly known, Red Hot Poker, and like other varieties it features impressive flowers. This herbaceous perennial grows as a clump and produces thin, strap like, mid-green leaves. During summer and autumn, stems rise above the foliage carrying showy clusters of tubular flowers in a range of shades including yellow, orange, and flame red. The nectar in the flowers attracts birds as do the seed capsules following flowering. It typically grows to about 75 cm tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun on a well-drained site. It will grow in partial shade but at the expense of prolific flowering. It is tolerant of dry conditions, coastal environments, and frost. Kniphofia Flamenco is a versatile plant that is ideal for attracting birds, for border planting, planting under trees, adding to mixed plantings, growing in a container, or riparian planting. A mass planting gives a stunning display.
