Kniphofia linearifolia Details

Kniphofia linearifolia is an herbaceous perennial grown for its flowers and hardy nature. This herbaceous perennial grows as a clump and produces thin, strap like, green leaves. During summer and autumn, stems rise above the foliage carrying showy clusters of tubular, green-yellow flowers. The nectar in the flowers attracts birds as do the seed capsules following flowering. It typically grows to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun on a well-drained site. It will grow well in partial shade but at the expense of prolific flowering. It is tolerant of dry conditions, coastal environments, and frost. Kniphofia linearifolia is ideal for attracting birds, for border planting, planting under trees, adding to mixed plantings, growing in a container, or riparian planting. A mass planting gives a stunning display.
