The nectar in the flowers attracts birds as do the seed capsules following flowering. It typically grows to about 50 cm tall and the same wide, growing best in full sun on a well-drained site. It will grow well in partial shade but at the expense of prolific flowering. It is tolerant of dry conditions, coastal environments, and frost.
