Lilium Mapira Details

Lilium Mapira is a variety of Asiatic Lily grown for its striking flowers. The large and showy, dark-purple, almost black flowers are borne off tall stems in spring and into summer. The flowers are complemented with lush foliage that is dark green and sword like in appearance. This herbaceous perennial typically grows to 60 cm tall and 30 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates and in these environments, it typically dies back during winter to regrow again in spring. They do not perform well when grown in wet and heavy soils. Lilium Mapira is commonly included in cottage gardens, added to borders and mixed plantings, planted around outdoor living areas, or included anywhere their beauty can be appreciated. They can also be maintained in a container and planted into the garden once flowering is complete. Plant the bulbs 10 cm deep and 15-20 cm apart.
