Bee Balm, Wild Bergamot
Commonly known as Beel Balm or Wild Bergamot, this variety of Monarda that features impressive, yet slightly unusual, pink flowers. The scented flowers rise above the mid-green foliage in summer and autumn, and are great for attracting butterflies and bees. It typically grows to 50 cm tall and 40 cm wide, though will colonise larger areas with time. It performs best when planted in full sun or a well-drained, sheltered site that does not dry out. This plant will die back during winter to regrow again when conditions warm. Wild Bergamot is commonly included in borders and mixed plantings, or added to cottage gardens, or planted to attract butterflies.
