Myosotidium hortensia, commonly known as The Chatham Island Forget-me-not, is a distinctive and recognisable NZ native. The plants have large leaves, up to 60 cm long, which are bright green and glossy. The foliage is complemented with sprays of stunning, bright blue flowers in late spring. This impressive plant typically grows to 60 cm tall and 50 cm wide, and performs best when planted in a semi-shade position with a fertile and moist soil that is free draining. A frost may take out the foliage but it will often regrow again when conditions warm. Myosotidium hortensia is often mass planted in borders, maintained in a container, included in cottage and tropical gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like.
