Golden Oregano
Origanum vulgare “Aureum” is a variety of Oregano featuring upright stems carrying golden foliage of slender stems. The leaves are mildly aromatic and generally not used for culinary purposes. During summer the ends of branches give rise to pink flowers which adds further interest to this wonderful plant. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and 20 cm wide, performing best when grown on a well-drained soil in full sun. While it is tolerant of cool climates, a moderate frost will knock it back. “Aureum” is commonly used in borders and mixed plantings, included in a herb or cottage garden, or planted so the beauty of this plant can be enjoyed.
