Potentilla anserina Details

Potentilla anserina, commonly known as Silverweed, is a low growing, herbaceous perennial grown for its foliage and flowers. The foliage is fern-like in appearance, deeply divided, and dark green but often takes on silver tones during dry periods. Single, yellow flowers are produced across the plant from late spring through summer. It typically grows to 30 cm tall and 50 cm wide and spreads by runners which enables it to colonise a larger area with time. It prefers a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun and is tolerant of drought, cool climates, and frost. In these environments it may die back but will regrow when conditions favour. Potentilla anserina is commonly used as a groundcover or planted along the margins of water features.
