Lambs-Ear
Commonly known as Lambs-ear, this herbaceous perennial gets its name from its soft and woolly, lime-green leaves. The leaves are thick and densely covered on both sides with grey-silver hairs. It will tend to be evergreen in warmer climates but may die back during cold winters to regenerate again when the weather warms. It typically grows to 50 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal conditions, moderate frost, and short periods of dry. Lambs-ear is commonly used for border plantings, added to a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas. It also suits being mass planted either on a bank or as a groundcover, and is a great plant for kids to get hands on with nature.
