“Homestead Purple” is an herbaceous perennial grown for its showy, bright purple flowers. The flowers are produced in spring and are held above the fine, dark green foliage. It grows densely to about 30 cm tall and 90 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, frost free, sheltered site. “Homestead Purple” is commonly used as a groundcover or included in borders where it can spill out onto a path or the like. It is also well suited to container growing and planting around outdoor living areas. In cooler areas it is often treated as an annual and replaced each year.
