Abelia schumannii Details

Abelia schumannii is an easy to grow, evergreen shrub that bears flowers through most of the year. The small, lilac blooms are lightly fragrant, and are produced most abundantly during summer and autumn. The foliage comprises small, dark green leaves which develop bronze tones during the cooler months. Plants grow with a rounded shape to about 1.8 m tall and 2 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Abelia schumannii performs best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of moderate frost, cool climates, and dry periods. This is a fantastic plant for adding variety and colour, and for this reason it is often used in mixed plantings, planted around outdoor living areas, or included in cottage gardens.
