Acmena smithii Forest Flame (Lilly Pilly) Details

Acmena Forest Flame is a compact variety of Lilly Pilly that is grown for its colourful and dense foliage. New growth is dark red and ages to become a fresh green colour. Cream-coloured flowers are produced during summer and result in edible, pink berries. This evergreen typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.2 m wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of light frost and periods of dry once established. Forest Flame is commonly clipped into a hedge, used for screening or as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in pool and modern garden designs, or grown as a topiary standard in courtyard plantings or in a container. It is a very rewarding and colourful plant.
