Alseuosmia macrophylla is shrub with glossy green leaves and typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide. In early spring, fragrant, crimson flowers, about 4 cm long and are followed by red berries in autumn. This plant grows naturally in shaded conditions so is ideal for planting beneath larger trees and shrubs. It is great for including in mixed plantings or including anywhere the scented flowers can be enjoyed. It does require a well-drained site and protection from wind when young.
