Aucuba japonica Crotonifolia, commonly known as Aucuba japonica Spotted Laurel, is a large and colourful shrub that features bold leaves marked with gold and green. Small, star-shaped, purple flowers in spring are followed by bright red, egg-shaped berries. It will grow to about 3 m tall and the same wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Aucuba Crotonifolia is commonly planted around the barbecue area, included in mixed plantings, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, used for screening and privacy, or planted in a shady corner.
