Aucuba Jungle Girl is an evergreen shrub with large, dark green leaves that have occasional yellow spotting. The lush foliage is complemented with star shaped flowers held as loose clusters in spring. These result in berries which start out bright green then change to bright red in winter.  It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It grows best when planted in a shaded or semi-shaded position on a well-drained, sheltered site, and is tolerant of moderate frost and dry periods, though young plants should be protected while they establish. Aucuba japonica Jungle Girl is commonly trimmed into a hedge, planted around outdoor living areas, grown for shelter and privacy, or planted in shady areas of the garden.
