Buxus sempervirens 'Elegantissima'

How to grow Buxus sempervirens 'Elegantissima' in NZ

Regular watering during its establishment phase will promote strong roots and healthy foliage. Avoid planting in poorly drained soils, as this can cause root problems. With the right location and care, this variety will reward you with steady, long lasting growth. Water thoroughly after planting and check moisture regularly while new roots establish. Keep competing weeds away from young plants so the roots can develop freely. Use the original planting depth as a guide and avoid covering the crown.

Buxus sempervirens 'Elegantissima' care tips

Buxus sempervirens 'Elegantissima' requires only minimal maintenance to thrive. A light trim in late spring or summer will help maintain a neat shape and showcase its variegated leaves. Apply a slow release fertiliser in spring to encourage strong growth and healthy foliage colour. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. During long dry periods, water well to keep the plant vibrant. With these steps, Buxus sempervirens 'Elegantissima' will remain an elegant feature.
