Callicarpa bodinieri Profusion, commonly known as Beautyberry, is a variety that brings jaw dropping colour to the garden. It is primarily included in the landscape for its showy autumn display of glossy, violet coloured fruit. It grows as a rounded, deciduous shrub to about 2 m tall and the same wide with upright, slender branches. Clusters of small, lavender flowers are borne along the stems in summer which result in coloured fruits during autumn that are great for attracting birds. The foliage is lush and bright green but develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. Plants grow best on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade, though best flowering and fruiting occurs in full sun. It is tolerant of frost, cold climates, and dry periods.
