Callistemon John Mashlan is a vigorous shrub renowned for its attractive foliage and bottlebrush like flowers. New leaves emerge silver-pink and turn mid-green as they age. The foliage serves as a pleasant backdrop to the masses of pink, bottlebrush-like flowers that appear in clusters from spring through autumn. The flowers are great for attracting birds and bees. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 3 m wide but is often pruned back to just behind the flowers after the spring flush. This bottlebrush grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will, however, tolerate a wide variety of climatic conditions including frost and coastal environments as well as most soil types, barring extreme wet or dry, making it an easy plant to grow.
