Callistemon ‘Kings Park Special’ is a large shrub grown for its bottlebrush like flowers and attractive foliage. Masses of the crimson-coloured flowers and produced through spring and summer, turning the plant into a mass of vibrant colour. The dark green foliage is held with a pendulous manner and complements the flowers nicely. This evergreen grows with a somewhat rounded habit to about 5 m tall and 3 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. This bottlebrush grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site and will tolerate a wide variety of climatic conditions including frost, coastal environments, and most soil conditions barring extreme wet and dry. This makes it an easy to grow and relatively low maintenance plant. Callistemon ‘Kings Park Special’ is commonly used for screening and shelter, grown as a specimen, included in a mixed planting, or clipped into a hedge. Space plants 50-60 cm apart for hedging.
