Callistemon citrinus ‘Western Glory’, commonly known as Bottlebrush, is an evergreen shrub grown for its bottlebrush-like flowers. Masses of the pink-red flower spikes are produced in spring and then again in autumn, and are great for attracting birds and bees. The narrow, dark green leaves provide a pleasant backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide but can be contained with trimming as necessary. This variety of Bottlebrush grows best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate a wide variety of climatic conditions, including frost and coastal environments, as well as most soil types, barring extreme wet or dry. This makes it an easy to grow plant which is also low maintenance. Callistemon ‘Western Glory’ is commonly used for screening and shelter, grown as a specimen, added to a mixed planting, or clipped into a hedge.
