Zambo Camellia, Camellia japonica Zambo

Camellia japonica Zambo produces masses of double blooms which are rose-red and take on purple-blue tones as they age. These are produced from late winter through spring and blend nicely with the glossy, green foliage as it grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide. Camellia Zambo is commonly grown as specimen, clipped into a hedge, added to a mixed planting, used in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.

Camellia Zambo Details

Camellia japonica Zambo is an evergreen shrub that produces masses of double blooms which are rose-red and take on purple-blue tones as they age. These are produced from late winter through spring and blend nicely with the glossy, green foliage. It grows relatively compactly to about 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. It is tolerant of cool and humid climates as well as moderate frost once established. Camellia Zambo is commonly grown as specimen, clipped into a hedge, added to a mixed planting, used in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants. It is also well suited to being maintained in a container. For hedging space plants 50 cm apart.
