Camellia trichocarpa Details

Camellia trichocarpa is an evergreen shrub grown for its lovely flowers. Through spring it produces attractive, single, white flowers with yellow stamens which are borne amidst the deep green leaves. It is relatively compact plant with an upright growth habit and typically reaches 3 m tall and 2 m wide. Camellias grow best in a full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. They will grow in partial shade conditions but tend to be more open and can be less prolific in their flowering. This Camellia is tolerant of frost and cold environments and requires a slightly acidic soil. Camellia trichocarpa is commonly grown as specimen, clipped into a hedge, added to a mixed planting, used in cottage gardens, planted around outdoor living areas, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants. It is also well suited to being maintained in a container. For hedging space plants 50 cm apart.
