Carmichaelia australis, commonly known as NZ Native Broom, is a fast-growing shrubs that will reach 3 m tall and 2 m wide. The plants have flattened stems and small, almost inconspicuous leaves. In spring, the stems bear flushes of small, mauve coloured flowers. Carmichaelia australis is commonly used for riparian planting and revegetation projects.

Carmichaelia australis Details

Carmichaelia australis, commonly known as NZ Native Broom, is a fast-growing shrubs that will reach 3 m tall and 2 m wide. The plants have flattened stems and small, almost inconspicuous leaves. In spring, the stems bear flushes of small, mauve coloured flowers. This evergreen shrub prefers full sun and a well-drained site though it will grow well in partial shade conditions also. Plants are also tolerant of dry periods, wind, frost, cool climates, and heavy soils. Carmichaelia australis is commonly used for riparian planting and revegetation projects.
