Carmichaelia crassicaulis, Coral Broom
Carmichaelia crassicaulis, commonly known as the Coral Broom, is an interesting shrub grown for its interesting stems and colourful flowers. It bears grooved branches which are leafless and gives the plant a cactus-like appearance. Through summer the plant is transformed by clusters of small, pretty, purple flowers, as it grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide. Carmichaelia crassicaulis is commonly used in mixed plantings, regeneration projects, and anywhere a hardy yet interesting plant is required.
