It bears grooved branches which are leafless and gives the plant a cactus-like appearance. Through summer the plant is transformed by clusters of small, pretty, purple flowers, as it grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide. Carmichaelia crassicaulis is commonly used in mixed plantings, regeneration projects, and anywhere a hardy yet interesting plant is required.

Carmichaelia crassicaulis, commonly known as the Coral Broom, is an interesting shrub grown for its interesting stems and colourful flowers.
