Caryopteris Dark Knight, commonly known as Bluebeard, is an attractive, deciduous shrub that produces masses of fragrant, dark blue flowers through summer and autumn. Such is the flowering that it is said to resemble clouds of blue smoke or mist. The flowers are great for attracting butterflies and are held amidst the grey foliage which is also fragrant. It typically grows to 70 cm tall and 50 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, and tolerates frost and dry periods once established.
