Choisya ternata (x dewitteana) Aztec Pearl, commonly known as Mexican Mock Orange, is an evergreen shrub grown for its attractive foliage and pleasant flowers. The foliage comprises lush and glossy, dark green leaves which release a mild fragrance when crushed. The foliage is complemented with showy clusters of fragrant, white flowers through spring and summer. It grows compactly with a rounded shape to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of dry periods and moderate frost once established. Choisya Aztec Pearl is a popular and low maintenance shrub that is commonly included in mixed plantings and borders, planted around outdoor living areas, grown as an informal hedge, or used to brighten up a bland area. It also makes for a lovely accent to entranceways and looks amazing in any garden.
