It is commonly included in mixed plantings and borders, planted around outdoor living areas, grown as an informal hedge, or used to brighten up a bland area. It also makes for a lovely accent to entranceways and looks amazing in any NZ garden.

What is the Choisya Aztec Pearl growth rate?

Choisya Aztec Pear grows compactly with a rounded shape to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide. It will take about three years to reach this maximum size and that growth rate will depend on both how well it is looked after and the growing environment. Choisya Aztec Pearl pruning

Choisya Aztec Pearl pruning involves trimming the plants after flowering to maintain their shape. Pruning encourages further flowering and fresh growth. They can be pruned to half their size during summer if aggressive pruning is required.

Why does my Choisya Aztec Pearl have yellowing leaves?

Yellowing leaves on your Choisya Aztec Pearl can be caused by several factors. The most common reason is overwatering, poor drainage, or both. Choisya plants prefer well-drained soil and if the roots are constantly wet, they can rot, leading to yellowing leaves. Nutrient deficiencies, in particular iron, can cause yellowing of the leaves. Consider using The Plant Company’s shrub fertilizer or fertiliser for acid-loving plants to correct that. Frost damage is possible if the plants have not been conditioned to cold temperatures. Transplanting shock will often cause leaf yellowing as the plant adjusts to its new environment. Pest and disease issues are less common but check for pests like scale insects and any sign of fungal disease.
