Choisya ternata Sundance, commonly known as Mexican Orange Blossom or Mexican Orange Flower, is an evergreen shrub grown for its attractive foliage and pleasant flowers. It produces glossy, yellow leaves which eventually age to a dark green and release a mild fragrance when crushed. The foliage serves as a colourful backdrop to the clusters of fragrant, white flowers produced in spring and autumn. This variety grows compactly with a rounded habit to about 1 m tall and 1.5 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of dry periods and moderate frost once established. Choisya Sundance is a popular and low maintenance plant in NZ gardens and is commonly included in mixed plantings and borders, planted around outdoor living areas, grown as an informal hedge, or used to brighten up a bland area. This Mexican Orange Blossom also makes for a lovely accent to entranceways.
