Coprosma Black Velvet Details

Coprosma Black Velvet, commonly known as Mirror Bush, is a popular NZ native shrub that carries small and glossy leaves that are black with a crimson edge. The colours are amazing and most intense when grown in full sun and during winter. This evergreen grows compactly to about 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. This Mirror Bush is a hardy plant and will tolerate most soils barring the extremes of wet and dry. It is also tolerant of coastal environments, and moderate wind, but does require protection from heavy frost when young. Coprosma Black Velvet is commonly grown as a specimen, trimmed into a hedge, included in a mixed planting, planted around outdoor living areas, or used to brighten a dull corner of the garden. It makes for a magnificent specimen when maintained in a container. For hedging space plants 50 cm apart.
