It carries small and rounded, glossy leaves that are a mix of red, yellow, green, and orange. As cooler weather sets in the darker colouring intensifies. This evergreen grows compactly and densely to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. This hardy plant will tolerate most soils, barring extreme wet or dry, as well as coastal conditions, some wind, and moderate frost.
