Coprosma Lawrie Metcalf is a fast-growing and hardy, NZ native shrub. It carries small and narrow, green-brown leaves on a dense network of stems. It grows with an upright habit to about 3 m tall and 2 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. This Coprosma grows best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site though most intense leaf colouring occurs when it is planted in full sun. It tolerates coastal conditions, frost, wind, and most soil conditions except the extremes of wet and dry. Coprosma Lawrie Metcalf is commonly included in mixed plantings, used for screening, grown as a hedge, or included in riparian plantings. For hedging plants should be spaced 75 cm apart.
