Coprosma lucida, commonly known as Karanga, Karamu, or Shining Karamu, features glossy, green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop to the orange-red berries in summer. It typically grows to 6 m tall and 3 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Coprosma lucida is ideal as a hedge, for screening, as a backdrop for smaller plants, or for attracting birds. Coprosma lucida Details

Coprosma lucida, commonly known as Karanga, Karamu, or Shining Karamu, is a lovely NZ native shrub. It features glossy, green leaves which serve as a lovely backdrop to the orange-red berries in summer. The shrub becomes alive with birds as the berries ripen. It typically grows to 6 m tall and 3 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Karanaga will grow in full sun or partial shade conditions but does require some shelter and protection from frost when young. Once established it is tolerant of some wind, coastal environments, dry soil conditions, and moderate frost. Coprosma lucida is ideal as a hedge, for screening, as a backdrop for smaller plants, or for attracting birds. It is a must for any native vegetation projects.
