Coprosma propinqua Details

Coprosma propinqua, commonly known as Mingimingi or Mikimiki, is an evergreen, NZ native shrub that is found naturally in swampy areas. It features interlaced branches that host small, green leaves. The foliage tends to be dense when grown in sheltered environments but sparse in exposed or cooler areas. From inconspicuous flowers in spring result white berries which mature to dark blue in autumn. Mingimingi can grow to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide with favourable conditions and can be trimmed as necessary. It grows well in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site and is tolerant of heavy soils, short periods of dry, moderate frost, and wind. Coprosma propinqua is commonly used in native plantings, wetland and revegetation projects, or included in a mixed planting.
