It carries small and glossy, dark bronze-green leaves that turn a deep purple-red in winter. It typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary, and grows best in a full sun or partial shade position that is well-drained. This hardy plant will tolerate most soils (except extreme wet or dry), dry periods, moderate frost, some wind, cool climates, and coastal conditions. Coprosma Roys Red is often used as a hedge, added to mixed plantings, included in coastal gardens, or planted around pool and barbecue area.
