“Broadsword” is a smaller variety of the commonly known, Cabbage Tree, and features broad, bright green leaves held on a small tree. It grows with mulitple, short stems that host the amazing foliage. It eventually grows to 3 m tall and 1.5 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of moderate frost, dry periods, some wind, and coastal environments. “Broadsword” makes for a lovely specimen and is commonly included in a mixed planting, planted around outdoor living areas, or planted to soften a bland wall. The architectural form and attractive foliage makes this plant the perfect choice for the modern and tropical garden.
