Corokia Phantom

Corokia Phantom is a hardy, NZ native shrub grown for its colourful foliage and interesting form. It grows as a mass of wiry, tangled, silver-grey branches carrying small, brown-black leaves. Small, star like, mildly fragrant, yellow flowers are produced in summer and followed by small, red-orange berries as it grows to 1.2 m tall and 1 m wide. Corokia Phantom is commonly used as low to medium sized hedge but makes a great addition to mixed plantings, particularly on those difficult to grow sites.

How to grow a Corokia Phantom hedge

Corokia Phantom makes for a fabulous hedge and it all begins with getting the correct plant spacing. To achieve a dense hedge quickly, the plants should be spaced 45 cm apart. If you space them wider the hedge will take longer to fill in and become wider overall. The best Corokia Phantom hedges are lightly trimmed during spring and again in autumn. Be sure to feed them in spring with tree fertiliser to maintain the health and integrity of the hedge.
