Cotinus Velvet Cloak, Celvet Cloak Smoke Tree, Cotinus coggygria Velvet Cloak
Cotinus Velvet Cloak, commonly known as Smoke Tree, gets its common name from the billowy hairs left in summer from the spent flower clusters, which are pink-purple and resemble a puff of smoke. The attractive foliage emerges purple-red, darkens to a deep purple, then develops red tones in autumn before falling as it grows to 3 m tall and the same wide. Cotinus Velvet Cloak is commonly grown as a specimen, trimmed into a hedge, maintained in a courtyard or cottage garden, or planted anywhere the vibrancy and beauty of this plant can be enjoyed.
